OMG! I'm not too far from the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon (although maybe about a mile). We've lived here for 31 years and I've NEVER seen a tarantula anywhere around here. If I saw a tarantula in my bedroom, I would drop dead on the spot. When you say there is one in your bedroom right now, what the hell are you going to do about it? There's a tarantula in your bedroom and it's alive, and you're sitting here posting about it!!!!!

Yes, there ARE tarantulas in Utah---I live in the mouth of Farmington Canyon and we have seen several over the years. There was one on a sticky trap this morning..... don't tell my renters.....

I live up in the avenues in SLC and this morning woke up to a scorpion in our bathroom sink! How the heck did it get in there and do you think we have more? it was pretty small so i am hoping that there are no more.

Default Tarantulas

We found a tarantula in our driveway last weekend (as did our neighbor) in the Avenues. We back up to the Wasatch National Forest so not a real surprise. More disconcerting was the rattlesnake we found in the garden 15' from our back door a couple of weeks ago.
