Hello,
I currently work as an IT business analyst for a large travel retail corporation.
I have a pending job offer in PC in the same field/same position.
The salary is slightly less than i make now, but the benefits are better. (est $160 a week less in pay.) My long time girlfriend would be joining me on this adventure, however she has no pending job offers in Utah and is unemployed currently.

Looking for some of the pros/cons of both the career move as well as the change.

If this goes through I am looking to live in either park city or as close as possible.
Kimball Junction seems to be a reasonable commute with cheaper rental properties, as well as Herber.

So what do you think?

Do you plan on renting or buying and what will your rent/mortgage budget be? Is your job in PC city limits or at Kimballs Junction?
What does your girlfriend want to do job wise and what type of work has she done in the past?
The resorts are hiring NOW as are most of the restaurants, shops ect. The job market is not a slam dunk anymore in Park City so if she will need a job for the 2 of you to make it here she will need to get on the stick.
I would not move to Heber unless both of you have jobs there. The commute isn't that far but sooooo many people drive in from there and Kamas, Woodland, Francis, Coalville, Wanship etc that the time frame can get upwards of 45-60 minutes. Throw in a snowy morning and a slide off or 2 and it gets worse.

Planning on renting.. at least in the short term budget would be up to 1500/month. Job would be in Park city, which is my first choice as far as location, but if cost presents itself as a limiting factor, Kimballs Junction was a possible alternative. My Girlfriend is a certified teacher who has had the hardest time finding available positions in NJ.
Thanks a ton for your feedback skibarbie. I see you are a great resource on this forum.

That will get you a dump/older drafty place in the Park City limits. Check out towards Kimballs for something nicer. Bear Hollow Village or Fox Point should have something for you and it's 6 miles to Main Street, AKA Old Town.
The local paper, Park Record, has several listings for rentals and jobs too. Getting a teaching job for the Mrs will be as difficult here as there due to budget problems. If her heart is set on teaching, have her check that her teaching credentials will be accepted in Utah.
I know of a few property management firms that handle rentals, let me know if you would like names etc and I will send them to you via DM.
Not sure if I am a great resource but after living up there and still living to ski, I am happy to share my little bit of insight....
