Can anyone provide me a list of Sacramento area hospitals or a link to get a list? They don't have to be in Sacramento, surrounding areas will suffice.

Thank you.

Mark

I second this question. What are the good hospitals? We have an expanding family - which hospitals have a good L&D/Maternity section?

Okie dokie -

I will try to commit from my memory -

One I can tell ya because it was a STRONG memory (where we had our daughter ) Mercy San Juan in Carmichael has a great L/D department My doctor from Roseville delivered there. I can give you her name if you would like it. She is one of the best in the area.

There are

Sutter Hospitals:
Sutter Roseville Hospital - Main Roseville Hospital and Trauma Center, very nice birthing center (cousin delivered there twice).
Sutter General
Sutter Memorial - great heart center

Mercy (or Catholic Healthcare West/CHW - Hospitals
Mercy General - Great heart hospital - first hopsital in the area to do open heart surgeries.
Mercy San Juan

University of California at Davis (UCD)
UCDMC - County Hospital/Trauma Center (off of Stockton Boulevard - don't go there at night - in South Sacramento)

Kaiser Permanente - Many facilities in and around Sacramento
Methodist Hospital in South Sacramento.

I know that there is a medical hospital in Folsom but not really sure where.

There is a Mercy hospital in Folsom, near Bidwell. There is also one in Auburn.

Don't be that worried about UCD Medical Center. The area surrounding the hospital is fine (it's mostly surrounded by the Elmhurst neighborhood). If you go south on Stockton towards and past Broadway, that's where it gets bad.

I had both of my children at UCDMC and only have great things to say about the facilities and my experiences. Plenty of my friends have UCDMC as their hospital and their experiences mirror mine.

CW68 is right. The University of California has it's own police department that constantly patrols the area around UC Davis Medical Center and it's surrounding clinics. Because of this, there are few problems in this area.

Guingirl, a name of a good OB/GYN would be great. Can you PM me the info?

Which of the hospitals are teaching hospitals, if any?

University of California at Davis Medical Center (UCDMC) is the big teaching hospital in the area. My mom had her cardiac stints put in there and I used to have UCD as my main care provider although my OB/GYN was not in the group.

I was nervous down there at night going to visit her, from my personal experience, thats not to say anyone else might not be. That doesn't take away from the competency of the doctors, but you will find that since it is the "county hospital" that you might walk down the hall and find sheriff's guarding a room because someone from the jail is there.

My pediatrician was from UCD and practiced at the clinic in Roseville. She was WONDERFUL and I hope I can find just as conscientious a ped here in Fort Worth.

I will pm you both the names of my doctors.
