You'd have to go to little manila in South Sac for any true filipino food. Thai, i couldn't find any till i moved to Arizona. Vegan...... Not to sound ignorant, but whats the difference between Cantonese food and Mandarin food? Both are Chinese, right?

There are subtle and not-so-subtle differences in these two (as well as other regional) examples of Chinese cuisine, but practically speaking, most "Chinese" restaurants and cuisine that we are exposed to here in America are of Cantonese origin. Dim sum, sweet and sour pork, char siu bao, wonton noodles -- all examples of Cantonese cuisine. It's not uncommon to see some Mandarin dishes find their way into the menus of Cantonese restaurants -- Peking duck, for a well-known example -- but it's actually somewhat rare to find a true Mandarin-only restaurant in America, and chances are that you will have never heard of most of the dishes on a Mandarin menu.

(On a side note, although Cantonese and Mandarin are two languages (of many) spoken in China, they are about as different as two languages could be.)

Cantonese Food

Cantonese dont use hot / spicey seasonings they prefer to taste the natural freshness and juices, and they eat lots of fresh seafood and rice.

the Mandarin or northern style eat more noodles / breads and use more hot spicey seasonings

since the climate in the north does not produce as much rice as the south they tend to have more noodle dishes
