We are in NY and consider moving there because of the schools. Everything I have read or heard is all positive. I wonder whether they are anything I miss. Any areas of Granite Bay that are less desirable and should be avoided? Are the areas surrounding GB also nice and safe? My husband will be working in downtown Sacramento once a week and remainings will be in Roseville. How is the traffic during rush hours? How long should he expect for the commute? Thank you.

Rush hour is pretty bad into Sac from there. Could be an hour each way depending on the actual traveling hour.
All areas surrounding Granite Bay are nice - maybe Orangevale is more blue collar rural, but it's ok.

Other then that Granite Bay is very nice, with nice schools, and clean, conservative suburbs.

the surrounding area is pretty quiet, generally safe areas. Commute like said could be from 20 minutes to an hour or so each way depending on time of day. I do it several times a week and it is tolerable. If it's 1x per week then that's more than that's cake in my opinion. To better answer your question, what would you consider less desirable and needing to be avoided. GB and the surrounding area is all fairly consistent kind of spread out surburban layout. Nothing really needing to be avoided that I can think of and I am usually in the area a few times a week.

When people mean an area is safe in california the mean safe as in there is not a lot of violent crime.

Property crime such as vandalism, car break ins, car thefts, happen all over california even in nice areas.

So use your street smarts, don't leave valuables in your car in keep your house and windows locked when you are not home, etc.

I moved to GB from chicago back in 96. Generally speaking its a solidly upper middle class community. The area is pretty much safe and stable all around, even the couple trailer parks in the area are not that bad. Its a great place to raise a family.

What are you looking for in a preschool? My advice is you will need to tour them to see if they are what you want.

Otherwise, do you want a learning center/daycare? Or do you want like a preschool co-op? Or would you like a preschool/church daycare? What do you want?

When we lived there, we had our child in the Brighton School in GB. We pulled her because I was not happy with the cleanliness of the center and she (who can't have gluten) kept getting sick from picking up food off the floor and eating it. When I brought the situation to the attention of those in charge, I received a less than satisfactory explanation so we pulled her. This was 4 years ago and things may or may not have changed.

My parents put me me in brother in christian day cares, but this was back in wheaton il back in 90's.

Me and my wife are looking into catholic day cares when our daughet gets older. I'd check out the catholic schools either in roseville or citrus heights. We wont be doing anything *other* than catholic.
