Hi Everyone,

I try to find a reliable ISP before I move to Fairport and there are 2 big companies available: Road Runner and Frontier. I used to have Road Runner here in Southern California and didn't like their modem (they had great download speed though.) I had the modem replaced 3 times before canceling Road Runner and switched to Verizon.

Would you recommend Frontier in term of reliability?

Thanks,
Ben.

A few years ago when I had time warner, I went through modems every few months. Recently, they have been better. I've had this modem for about a year with no problems.
I would not like frontier due to the fact that you have to sign a contract.

I hear Road Runner is better (and I use Road Runner), but I am not sure how much is factual vs. perception.

We have been happy with Frontier.

Frontier let me sign a 2 year contract and then tried for weeks to play games with my service ("I don't know why your service isn't on yet, just use dial up until we can figure out the problem"). Turns out they don't have DSL service in my area of Henrietta (really!?), they must have "forgotten" when they signed me up (and in the 2-3 weeks they tried to "figure out" the "problem").

Then they wouldn't cancel the bundled Dish Network (I tried 5 times with them). I had to go around them to get it cancelled (off by the time I walked back into the other room). Then they tried to get me for early cancellation (a $200 "fine"), despite it being cancelled within 30 days (as allowed in the contract).

Watch out for Frontier. I certainly do NOT trust them anymore...
