Hi,

My wife and I just buy a house in Penfield, and we are first time home owner, so we know little about home improvement, such as flooring -- hardwood floor and ceramic tile. Can anybody recommend some good contractors?

BTW: Can we save money by buying materials and hiring professionals both from HomeDepot?

Thanks.

I've had Larry Lazzaro do some work for me. He has also done work for some family. Always does a great job.
His number is listed as 671-6327

Default Contractor

Hi I would call Orchard View Builders, in Walworth, NY 315-986-8874. They build great homes & I believe they do remodeling.

I've had Larry in the past.....but recently got an estimate from him. He was higher than all others, by a lot. Larry did good work, but I couldn't justify the extra money he wanted.. Also check if your contractor will give you all or part of his discount for tile. Larry doesn't. Majority do. I'm having Paul Aspenleiter do some work now. 734-5912 Tell him Barb told you. he is one of the best, if not the best contractor we've had. And we've had more than a few. You know he has to be good, he's a doglover as we are. I'm not recommending him because I know him personally. I was given his name and # , his price and ATTITUDE were right. BTW, that is very important.

I meant to mention, be careful about hiring Home Depot or Lowe's. Fine to get materials there, but they subcontract work. You don't know who will be doing the job or how experienced they are.
