Hello. I am driving to le Roy, NY and have mapped out my drive from Long Island, NY to Le Roy, NY Google maps gives 3 routes to take all around the same drive time. I have taken the drive in good weather once but the move will be done in the snow and ice I am assuming due to the recent weather we have been getting. Leaving here around Feb 1st or so and will be taking my dog with me. I do have a jeep 4x4 which makes me feel better but new to driving it. I was wondering if anyone has taken the trip or has frequented these highways and knows the best route to take that will be on the safest roads. Choices: I-80 W, I-81 N, or I-80 W and US-15 N. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say I-80 to I-380 North to I-81 North to I-86/Route 17 West to 390 North to Route 5/20 West into Le Roy.

Thank you I'll have to map that out. Off hand are there alot of tolls and hilly roads going that way?

I drove it plenty of times. I would only take the thruway. Yes you pay tolls but there are not a lot of curves. There are places you can stop and use the restrooms also easier to know your location and get help if needed. Also much more lights to make the driving easier.
