To the moderators can we get a sticky for crime in Rhode Island.

There are so many individual threads about crime in Rhode Island that it distracts from all the other threads that contain useful information regarding the state of Rhode Island.

As it is now every time a crime is committed in Rhode Island it seems to warrant a new thread.

The crime information is well organized as it is.

There is a main thread for violent crime in Providence (over 2600 posts).

There is a thread for Providence area drug crime (over 450 posts).

There is a catch-all Pawtucket thread that can include crime in Pawtucket (over 450 posts).

^ This accounts for the vast majority of crime in RI as well as the vast majority of crime posts here.

When there is the occasional significant crime in one of the other towns/cities in RI, often a thread is started as it wouldn't fit in any of the aforementioned threads.

There is absolutely no need for a sticky thread that lumps all crime together. That would be a major disservice to this forum.

The real issue here is the people who want to Suppress & Normalize crime. They are constantly disrupting and derailing threads.

Major exaggeration here. There is one ongoing thread dedicated to violent crime in Providence, where the majority of violence in RI happens to occur. There is another dedicated to the local drug trade. Crime threads outside of those two are pretty minimal. I do agree that we could use some new blood around here, but much of that is due to changing preferences in general. Most of the subforums don't see the activity that they used to. The Maine forum is similar, a few core posters keeping the place going.

JBtwinz, I say this respectfully. If you want to reminisce with people who used to live in RI, go to Facebook.

This is primarily a relocation forum...and there is nothing more important than crime information for those looking to relocate here.

I 4th this motion to petition the moderator to get a sticky for crime in Rhode Island in an effort to bring members back to the RI Forum. Please hear our plea!

For the record I am not trying to reminisce about the past in Rhode Island but rather current events, real estate, job market, hot growth areas, job market, commuting distances etc.

Out of some thirty threads on the main page here almost half of them are separate individual crime threads.

For a relocation forum about the state of Rhode Island this is a distraction. Having it under a sticky would keep pertinent information about RI near the top not buried for each irrelevant thread such as the “New Official Car of South Providence” which is somewhat derogatory and should have been closed.

For a small state, Rhode Island is too varied to lump all the crime threads into one sticky, but I think maybe it's time to combine the crimes in Providence. All the crimes.

Thank you, I think this will be a positive step in the right direction. Perhaps we can come up with a solution for the other 7-8 threads on this page relating to crime in other RI community’s given the size of the state.

I am surprised with the amount of derogatory comments about lower income people in some of these threads that they haven’t been closed.
