The Kickemuit Middle School in Warren was closed today due to a large amount of teachers calling in sick.
The word going around is that the "sick out" was due to the teachers having become increasingly scared of the students. They are too stressed to teach in that environment.
Apparently this problem isn't limited to just the Kickemuit Middle School. Parents of students at the Hugh Cole School in Warren have said that their children are afraid to go to school.
Kind of scary. These are some of the warning signs that get ignored before something horrific happens at schools. Being a teacher now is a dangerous job.

Well, there was a Dansko event at the shoe store this past Saturday. Nice store with a decent discount back area.
There is a newish co working space.
Found out about the other music venue, which is a grey area. Nice guy running it.
Another restaurant with some interesting cocktails and a duck poutine and some other stuff worth checking out. My partner wants to try the almond flour pancake on the menu.
The record store sill continues to be one of the best in RI.
Blount makes a fine soup.
That's about it from what I can tell. There is the update.

Yes, Warren is a nice town with some cool stuff. That's why the situation at the schools is so surprising.

Yes! I was just there on Sunday and picked up a few things, including the 1982 album from RI’s iconic bluegrass group The Neon Valley Boys. Coincidentally, they played at Nick-a-Nees tonight.

Nope. A Mexican place, La Piñata, just opened next to Town Hall. It’s really good, and they make your guacamole at the table.
Whatever the issues are at Kickemuit Middle School, they don’t appear to continue on to Mount Hope High School.

Oh, interesting. I'll try to check it out. I've been pretty unimpressed with Warren's options so far. Eli's Kitchen is meh to ok. Richardson's ok in a pinch. Chomp, I don't get it. If you're going to be a burger bar, have it be a really good burger. Revival is fine but overpriced for what it is. Square Peg is legit Ground Round for adults, literally a half step up from Applebees.
I've not been able to try Metacom Kitchen yet, but that's at a different price point.
