My primary care doctor pulled out a list of questions, some about medical conditions but most about my personal life. I asked him if these would show up on my "personal" health record accessible within a giant HMO. I declined. Anyone inside the system can access my records and probably outside too.

I haven't. It's too common.

Just curious. Whatever happened to those pre selected celebrity voices of tough guys like Schwartznegger’s “I’ll be back”, or Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry phone answering messages?

Don't know........but I mimic one I heard in the late 80s on mine. Then, about a generation ago, I used what a girl friend had on hers......."Anything you say can be used to return your phone call.".

And then, of course, there is sweet sounding Bess with "Hahaha! You're talking to a machine but that's okay, machines need love, too!".

Wow this has only happened for 6 weeks, call yourself lucky. Its been a couple years or so of non stop calling on my phone.

For me the Call Detector app has helped a lot. Down 90%. Yes these scammers call from a lot of different numbers but those numbers will repeat. And apps like Call Detector have a built in scam phone number list that blocks already reported numbers that others have blocked. You don't have to use that one. Several free apps that block scam calls.

Their purpose is to scam you and get your credit card or personal info like your SS#. And they must achieve that purpose often enough that its worth making all these calls (which probably cost them next to nothing to do).

But this is all the SAME scammer who plays the same machine noise every time. The numbers from which this scammer is calling are always different, they sometimes differ just by a single digit, and they are showing as being made from about ten different states (of course, they are spoofed fake numbers, and the calls are probably all made from the single hidden number). The scammer is not leaving any verbal message to try to get my personal info, just playing some sort of pre-recorded noise that sounds kind of like like a plane engine taking off.

After getting spammed day after day after day with Vlad-lite fornicating fascists soliciting money to overturn legal election, I installed an app that blocks all calls and texts not from my contact list. Sucks but telephone companies and politicians arent doing diddly about it. They want to advertise on my phone, how about paying for my phone service? I long ago told anybody that knows me, email is best and fastest way to contact me. Snail mail second fastest way. I dont listen to voicemail, too much hassle. cant even remember the password.

My new BLU tracfone identifies and blocks a lot of spam calls. Nice.
I also have a Vermont area code. No spam calls. There are a few reasons why Vermont gets less spam.

That's terrible and very different from the usual scammers. I used to get scammers trying to trick me or speaking Chinese but never a noise like that. Everyone I care to hear from is in my contacts. No idea what you can do to stop it other than the usual built in blockers and apps.
