Coronavirus has also made me 100% motivated to pursue full retirement this year at 60 (I have been semi-retired for 11 years anyway), by making me realize how painful it has gotten to deal with my more and more chaotic profession (healthcare) even in the form of short contracts, and how much I enjoy owning all of my time. But I still won't be taking ss until 70 - because I don't need it for the next 10 years, and because I know I will like the 1/3 bigger ss check 20-30 years from now if I am still around.

I'd wager there are a lot of people reassessing when they plan to take SS if they haven't already.
Makes you realize that life really can be short.

Yep me too. I’m retiring in June. Currently housebound with work closed and I just received an email from boss about going in next week to get material uploaded into computer because the outside agency we deal with wants extra information uploaded by April 20.

Hmmm

I thought it’s already decided that 62 is the age for you.,

Sounds like a decision driven by emotion. Proceed with caution.

I took SSI at 62 and no regrets. Sure, you can wait till 67 or 70 but it will take years to make up the missing income. And there's no guarantee you'll make it to 70.

The Pres is already making noise about cutting SSI and Medicare.

My thoughts are going the same way.

I discovered a month ago that if I retire this July 1st I will be forfeiting $26K in a VEBA-HSA post employment benefit that my employer really doesn't tell anyone about unless you ask. So my wife and I were considering working one more year till July 2021 when I would be 65 with 8+ years seniority, as the account balance is not forfeited if the employee leaves with 10 or more years or age 65 or greater.

Now I am wondering how important is that benefit I never knew about when I planned for, and funded, an age 64 retirement.......

Heck, although I get a quick health screen every day I When report to work, there remains a chance I may get sick and die before July 2020!
