It would be interesting to learn a little more of the "financial" underpinnings ....
This post isn't made to damage the reputation of the people involved -- only to point out that behind the footlights, a lot was going on that wasn't talked about.
Yeah, this is the reason Fogerty refused to play CCR songs until about the turn of the century, he didn't want to put money into the hands of those he felt had robbed him, it's a famous & terribly sad story all around that you can google if not familiar with it. The music "business" is a snakepit that terribly exploits young artists.
Well, "good golly miss Molly", while "it came out of the sky" I wasn't "born on the bayou", "someday never comes" when there's a "commotion" "down on the corner", " up around the bend".
"Suzie Q", well she decided to "run through the jungle" near the "cotton fields" while there's "a bad moon rising".
"Hey tonight", " have you ever seen the rain" coming down on "the midnight special" "sweet hitch-hiker"???
"I heard it through the grapevine" that "proud mary" "wrote a song for everyone" because "someday never comes" for the "traveling band".
"Looking out my back door", I wonder "who'll stop the rain"??
I am "a fortunate son" who is "feeling blue", put that on my "tombstone".
Oh Lord, im stuck in a "Lodi" again.....I guess that about sums up my take on the subject of CCR.....
I discovered classic rock when I was a freshman in high school (1989) and remember getting the Chronicle album on cassette inthe mail from Columbia House. Still listening to classic rock 30 years later.
Listen carefully to the lyrics on Lookin Out My Back Door.... They're talking about what they're seeing after they dropped acid.
