I'm in charge of a games day at a local senior center. We have a core of bridge players and a larger group of people who typically play Rummikub or dominoes.
Several of the latter have asked for some new board games. We have Monopoly and Scrabble, but those haven't been popular.
Could anyone recommend games that don't require the concentration of Scrabble but allow for socializing the way Rummikub does?
We like Ticket to Ride. Four of us played it twice the other night. You need to complete routes from city to city by drawing the correct cards. It's fun.
Whenever my snowbird friends are in town for the winter, I meet them at their RV campground and we play "Pegs and Jokers". They also call the game "dirty board". The game is similar to the game "Sorry!".
Here's a link for Pegs and Jokers game play. We basically follow the Arizona Rules but I noticed a few differences. The game is a lot of fun, and we do laugh a lot while playing it.
There's a shorter version of Monopoly called Monopoly Empire. It takes an hour or less to play. We have a lot of fun with it and play every Monday night with friends.
