Since being out has never had any more incidents. Please advise if he can or cannot apply for his social security retirement benefits.
As long as he has paid retirement credits into social security, he can retire. Contact the social security administration.

True, the money people who are presently receiving benefits is the money that is now being collected from the present work force and their employers.

I should have said the AMOUNT of money will be based on the amount that was collected from the employees wages during their working years, and the matching contributions of their employer.

The Benefit Eligibility Screening Tool (BEST) is a tool that you can use to find out if you could be eligible for benefits from any of the programs Social Security administers. This tool will give you eligibility information based on answers you give to the questions; however, BEST is not an application for benefits and:

will not give you an estimate of benefit amounts.

does not know, or ask for, your name or Social Security number.

does not access your personal Social Security records.

Default Ex-Felon Has applied for S/S Retirement

Justed wanted to thank you ALL for the information. I have since then given said information to our friend. He has applied (nervously) and is waiting reply from the Social Security Administration.

P.S. Does anybody know if Florida gives or plans to give ex-felons their voting rights? Would love to know.

Also does anyone know of a forum for immigration and naturalization?
I am trying to help another friend with her husband's situation.

Information would be appreciated.

He was in prison so much of his adult life that he might not have been eligible for retirement benefits until recently. He did the right thing to apply to the SSA and get a statement of his benefits to see where he stands.

I believe one must contribute to the system for at least 40 quarters to be eligible for retirement benefits in the future. I contributed some during my working life, but not enough to collect anything in retirement. My gift to someone.
