I live in a townhouse rental. Can my landlord replace my deck door in the winter. It is December in New Hampshire and it is 35 degrees out and I have no back door on. My house is down to 60 degrees and its going to cost me a fortune to heat my house back up can they do this??? Or can I make them pay my gas bill this month for this lack of respect?
I'm a little confused by your wording, you refer to both a back door and a deck door. Are there supposed to be two levels of doors, and you have the interior one off for some reason and they are replacing the exterior one, or is there only one door?
The prior door shouldn't have been removed until the new door was ready to go on, if there is only one door. If there are supposed to be two doors and you removed one for whatever reasons on your own, that isn't their fault.
If the door was broken or malfunctioning, and needs to be replaced, they can do so, but it shouldn't require the door to be off or open for more than an hour. Less really, but an hour tops. It wouldn't hurt to ask to be reimbursed for a PORTION of the gas bill for the month. Like the difference between last month's bill and this month's. I assume last month was fairly cold also in NH.
It's Decmber in Texas also. I imagine it's December in the entire USA. In any case, why was the door removed? What was put in place to cover the space while the door was off? When is the new door going to be installed? What has the LL offered to cover the opening while the door is off?

the old days take the front door off and come back with it when they have the rent.
