I currently live in a rent controlled apartment in NYC, I am in the process of applying to one of the lottery based subsidized apartments(think that's what they're called) the ones based on income and such. So my question is, if I were to be selected for such apartment do I have to give up my lease for the rent controlled apartment? I would like to still keep the rent controlled apartment, the other thing is that I am applying for the lottery apartment and including my parents, the lease for the rent controlled apartment is under my father's name, but the lease at the lottery apartment, if selected, will be under my name.
So basically, I would like to know if anyone knows if the rent controlled apartment can be kept under my dad's name while he is still included in the lottery based apartment application?
