If they knew you were moving to another state, they figure you wouldn't contest it. In FL, they can't charge for repainting for usual scuff marks, according to an attorney I spoke to about a rental I have.

Sounds like they figure that for you to take them to small claims court for the deposit would cost you more than for you to eat the loss.

In the future- pictures- always take picture. And have a check list at the walk through that gets signed at the end.

Oh yeaoh yea, and here is a lil something else...my landlord had a married couple work for them part time cleaning apartments, so it wouldn't be any "proffesional" cleaning service, which is why I'm going to demand the receipt

Thanks for ur reply, the only one that actually makes sence and helpful. I usually take pictures before AND after we move out, but so much was going on, it completely slipped my mind. I'm definetly going after my security deposit!

Were YOU a professional cleaner? Or just a married lady cleaning homes?

I'm sorry, but you sound like you have more excuses than Carter has liver pills.

I honestly don't understand why I'm getting attacked over this. I come here for an advice, not to be bullies by some kids, so if u don't have a good useful insight concerning my question, go do something else.

Fyi, yes, I worked for a proffesional cleaning, stuff happens, until u end up going through hard times, u can look down on people all u want, I'm a working mother trying to get by while in school, and very proud. Wut do u do? Get on forums and talk crap to people for no reason? Get a life.

I would definatley tell them you want a complete accounting of what was cleaned, how much the cleaning cost and also the cost of any supplies that were purchased and charged to you. It does not seem right that the Landlord did the walkthrough and told you things were good, then the owner changes that. As others have said, next time have a check list and make sure the landlord signs is.

Good luck

The only one that didn't ask you for further clarification which judging from your last response seems to irritate you.

Your reaction seems to me way overboard and very rude. You asked for guidance and opinions and all anyone has tried to do is determine what actually went down. Asking questions hardly constitutes any attack.

If you disagree with the deductions then, as has been suggested, question them in writing. If you don't receive a satisfactory response then you can of course go to Small Claims court and plead your case but only you can determine whether you have an airtight case and that it's worth the effort. Hope you get it sorted out.

Well they ask a question and when I answer, they tell me I have more excuses than Carter has liver pills, and I'm the one who's rude? Yeah...

"They" was one contributor and the flippant comment was hardly cause for your rude response. Anyway, as said, hope you get it sorted out.

Hey, I was just asking a clarifying question. No need to get so uptight about it.

I understand falling on hard times, what I don't understand is you left a place partially dirty and are complaining about the charges against your security deposit.
