I mean lotsa people live in the illusion that the group identity is more important than their autonomy (the individual self).
when you become the cosmic consciousness, you realize that behind every soul there was always God, but at the same time you retain your individual self which is preserved for eternity, but you just know there is no difference from it and God, and that God is the only reality behind all illusion.

you could say that the father is a substitution for the ego, or that the true identity behind the illusory ego is that eternal self, we were endowed with free will, discernment and ego to make our choice.

See you around my friend

Your thoughts in a philosophical manner?
Your question seems to suggest that communal man's awe of the world, and the misunderstanding and possible fear therof, neccessitated the development of diety.

If so, I have no doubt that was/is true for many.

But not me.
