Ah, I guess I should have used the term designer drug then. 'Recreational' designer drugs (like PCP and XTC) are designed to make the user become so addictive that he will do anything to keep buying it.

Probably true.
I'm addicted to keeping the house clean. If cleanliness is next to godliness, I'm a shoe-in. I do love the smell of a clean home!
Christians shouldn't be 'mastered' by anything - be it cigarettes, alcohol or drugs. Some medications are used with Morphine in - say in hospital - that's ok. But if there is the potential for addiction and harm to the body - then the Christian should repspect their body and avoid anything which could be addictive or hamful.
Genesis 1:11 "And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so."
Genesis 3:18 "... thou shalt eat the herb of the field."
Proverbs 15:17 "Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith."[1]
Psalms 104:14 "He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man."

This is simply a case of drug-users vs non-drug-users...right vs wrong..."yes" vs. "just say no"...no? I mean...folks who imbibe in "herbs" such as MJ or Peyote or shrooms or opiates are going to find the Bible full of pros for their use, while those who use "herbs" such as parsely, thyme, basil and curry are probably going to say all illegal substances are evil. I'm not sure it has anything to do with being Christian.
I also don't think anything that God or Mother Nature put on our earth is evil...it's how we choose to use or abuse it that is the problem. Chocolate is certainly not evil...but my addiction to it has caused me some problems (the bathroom scale is not my friend!!!)

No, designer drugs were merely designed or marketed because they produce effects similar to illegal drugs without themselves being illegal (at least until the Controlled Substance Analogue Enforcement Act of 1986). Designer drug - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. And Ecstasy isn't addictive. Natural, non-designer drugs like opium, tobacco and alcohol most certainly are, however.
Be that as it may, they still do more harm than good.
Being able to party for 48 hours straight without having to eat or rest can't be good for you. BTW I do not make a difference between legal designer drugs and illegal 'recreational' designer drugs.
I simply don't do drugs if I can avoid them.
Sheesh...I do seven different drugs daily, two of them twice...My bad!....Oops eight if you count caffeine... I haven't done weed for awhile now though....
I've always had a problem with this. Now, as a preface, let me just state that I do most definitely take issue with irresponsible use of any drug- be it marijuana, alcohol, cigarettes, or Tylenol. Expanding upon that, I also tend to take issue with the frequent use of drugs with a high potential for addiction (heroin, morphine, cocaine, and to a lesser extent, cigarettes) because I see such behavior as inherently irresponsible; you know you will become addicted, and continue the habit.
However, I have always been informed that Christianity sees drugs in general (psyclobin mushrooms, marijuana, ect) as "evil". This has never sat well with me, because there is no differentiation between responsible and irresponsible use. A person consuming alcohol has a much, much higher chance of inflicting harm on themselves or someone else than someone smoking weed does, yet the Church speaks against marijuana more adamantly than it speaks against alcohol.
Is this just a publicity thing (Church attendance would probably take a dive if the Church outlawed alcohol...) or am I just missing something?
By the way, my apologies in advance if this is somewhat broken. It's late here, and I'm a bit tired. Wanted to get this out before bed though
It reminds me of something I saw on a wall of a porta-potty: man made beer and god made pot, god is perfect, man is not....
Just thought I'd chime in.
But I have a friend that is pretty religious, we're talking like addicted to god religious... anyhow, he hits the reef like it's going out of style. So I think it depends largely on the person or where they are in their little sect.
