How is an all knowing god making a very silly mistake of leaving a dangerous tree where two innocents could be fooled by a talking serpent the best starting point for humanity?

It is very Cecil B. DeMille-ish!

I dunno, scientific study and history is a good contender.

I can be forgiven, i think, if I thought you were extolling the Abrahamic faiths as freely offering heaven up front, but in scratching my head and reviewing your original post, I see that you actually think the Garden of Eden was "offering heaven". I can't help you with that. Even if the story is about real events (and many believers don't think it is), it didn't last long and resulted in humans being estranged from god by default and suffering all sorts of terrible things for thousands of years. I am with Harry on this, it was a VERY inauspicious start for humanity.
