Its sad to say it but human minds just work that way. People tend to think of themselves as unique individuals but the way people think are not too different from others and the way people react has a lot less to do with what people believe than they think. Experiments such as:

-The Good Samaritan Experiment
-The Asch Conformity Experiment
-Bystander apathy such as the death of Catherine Genovese
-The Milgram experiment
-The Standford prison experiment

All show how its possible for even a saint to turn sour in certain kinds of situations.

Unless you have faith in your conviction like Ghandi and Martin Luther King JR already have proven. Both were influenced by the philosophy of Jesus.

But it is certainly is true that it is easier for individuals to act according to Jesus' philosophy than it is for groups (unless the leader already adheres to Jesus' philosophy).
