This thing.

I'm going to a movie, so I'm not wasting time explaining but what do you think?

Is the Hand of God in everything?

A desire to see pattern matches based on bias and to see agency based on bias will guarantee that people will tend to see the hand of god (or destiny or fate or whatever) in things. Coincidence? I think not ;-)

Default Is the Hand of God in everything?

No.

I'm going out to do some gardening, so I'm not wasting time explaining.

Pfffft. Have fun!

I think you guys misunderstand. I'm not talking about agency or coincidence.

To me this concept is about pantheism. That is, if I turn on the TV and see Kyle XY, you could in theory talk about how there is coincidence because something in the episode has to do with something in my own life.

But that's not really what this is about. It's about how everything we can see and touch is a reflection of God. The signature of God, his "hand" is in it.

Thomas Merton called it "The vestiges of God" which is another way of saying by "vestiges" that we see God's footprints everywhere. He is everywhere and controls all.

'Twas the Hand of Cruithne. Blessed be Cruithne, who groweth her vegetables in their season!

Put me down for some fresh peas in the pod. I'll jam my pockets chock-full, sit under a shady tree and munch myself into ecstasy.

Just like at Granny and Gigi's farm in 1958.
