The Jamaica Gleaner newspaper reported that the Jamaica Urban Transit Company Ltd. (JUTC) has advised its drivers to "politely" tell preachers they can no longer preach on state-owned transportation.
"I am all for evangelizing but they can't use the bus as their platform," JUTC Managing Director Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin told The Gleaner.
"I have sent a memo to the drivers, basically, telling them to politely request that the people do not preach on the buses.”
Lewin noted that preachers take advantage of the buses because commuters have no choice but to listen to their loud sermons.
"I think this is what makes the bus an attractive mobile church, and I suppose you can't just get off because you have spent your money," he explained.
Is preaching on Buses a problem in the U.S.A? where most of you members live?

I suspect preaching on buses or subways in America would be considered "disturbing the peace" or "disorderly conduct" or some such. Street preachers allow for escape . . . but confined vehicles do not.
Evangelicals do not, and should not need to preach in predominately Christians countries...
Is Jamaica a "predominately Christian country"? Is the US? There might be a lot of folks that would argue that point.
A couple hundred years ago street preaching was something that was common. A man would stand on a street corner and just preach to those that gathered. It's making a comeback in recent years. I'm not suggesting the nut job with a sandwich board on the corner telling everyone they're going to hell is a good thing...but Ray Comfort has some interesting youtube videos where he stands on the beach in California, draws a crowd and then begins to proclaim the Gospel.
I would agree though, that the bus is not the place to preach--as people should be able to leave if they don't want to hear it.

"Throughout Jamaica you will also find Rastafarians, and a smaller number ofJews, Hindus, and Muslims. There is African-based cult worship, although quite often adherentsbelong to a Christian denomination as well."
Have you ever Lived in a Southern State or watched TV? Have you ever had a "visitation" from any local Denomination?
I never said they don't preach; I'm saying that Evangelicals should NOT preach in predominately Christians countries. They could preach in non-Christians countries though.
Lots of Muslims preach in Europe, North & South America, and other Christian regions/parts too.
