good point. u r believing the media but enough press reported evidence has come back example rocks form the moon and interviews with astronauts so forth to give it alota credibility. now if u wana talk about media based faith, how bout that bin laden was killed and buried at sea.
I base my belief of man walking on the moon by faith.
What do you base your belief of man walking on the moon by?
Evidence of course. Let's see.....
We fire lasers beams at the moon which hit mirrors and bounce back to us. The time the beam takes to complete the journey allows us to calculate the distance between the Earth and the Moon.
1. We know the mirrors are there because the laser beams come back.
2. We know they didn't get there by themselves.
3. We therefore deduce that someone must have put the mirrors there.
4. Having deduced that someone must have put them there, we conclude that the only way they could have done that is to have been there to do it.
See.....when you have evidence, 'faith' becomes redundant.
No. I believe evidence can account for a lot, but at some point we have to believe the evidence on faith, unless we were eye witnesses.
You're absolutely right. And even then, we might even doubt something happened that really happened (the mind is capable of great faith and doubt). That's why asking for a "sign" is frowned upon, because some people would not believe a sign even if it were given to them. I think all that we perceive to be reality is based on faith of some kind. This is a fantastic thread. It might cause people to think more deeply. It seems to be the nature of man to dislike uncertainty. That is because uncertainty requires faith in something, not necessarily faith in God, but faith in something. Everyone has faith.
