Becoming a "sponsor" (quote, Catholic, religion)

I made a previous post earlier on this religion forum and I have some updated info. My girlfriend's little sister (age 17) wants me to be her sponsor. I'm not catholic so what do I have to do? Now, I won't be a practicing Catholic b/c I have no interest in it but I want to do this for her. I consider this a great honor. Do I need to become a catholic for this?

I'm not Catholic, but here's a wiki I just did on it;

It does say a sponsor has to be a confirmed Catholic. Good luck with it all.
