"The Day"

Everybody's hero the way they're portraying it. In fact he was the most selfish, arrogant racer in the history of the sport. If a driver came up and passed him near the end of the race and he was on old tires and wasn't able to race the guy with the fresh ones...he would drive into the left rear quarter panel with the throttle wide open and use him as a backboard.

The day he died he was doing something he had never done before in his life...blocking the rest of the field so either his son(Dale Jr.) or his driver(Michael Waltrip) could win the race. He didn't have his seat belt tight and he was wearing an open faced helmet...the only active driver at that time who was so adventurous. I've watched NASCAR racing since 1963 and without a doubt Dale Earnhardt Sr. was the most egotistical, win or die trying, racer they've ever had in the sport.

I don't think they'll be able to make a Jesus out of him unless he rises from the wreckage.

If Dale was Jesus, does that make Jeff Gordon Satan? Is Danica Patrick the new Mary Magdalene? This stuff is confusing.

Dale Earnhardt Sr. was the kind of driver that you either loved or loved to hate but one thing you cannot deny, he could damn well drive a car and win races... so whether you loved him or hated him, you at least had to respect him for what he could do with a racecar......

Have you seen "The Day?"

The Speed channel has shown it no less than half a dozen times. I've never seen so many grown men cry.

It probably just a melancholic sentimental tribute to a great race car driver, I don't see how you equivocate it with being Jesus.

At least none of them have said he walked on water yet...though close.

It was jesus' own gang of folks he was close to that wrote all that about him. They were Jews and now they don't even believe the new testament.
