I changed it at first opportunity and couldn't wait to hear people call me "Mrs. ---- ". Needless to say I intended to change it all along.

I changed my name when I got married; had all the legal paperwork (social, license, etc.) within the year.

When I got divorced I changed it back. The thing that kills me is the judge asked my ex's lawyer if that was ok (my ex didn't show). My lawyer did step up and say it wsn't his choice. The other lawyer just shrugged. I changed my paperwork back within the month!!

My son has my ex's last name but now wants to change his last name to mine (his dad only sees him 2-3 a year and never calls) . I told him he had to wait until he is 18, don't want anything to do with that can of worms.

If I married again I would socially take my husbands name but wouldn't legally go through that paperwork again.

I'm not married, but if I do get married I will absolutely take his name. It can't be worse than the one I've got now
