Since I currently have nothing better to do tomorrow night, I'm thinking about going to a speed dating event. The age range for the event is 40-58. Quite frankly, I think the age range is too vast as someone in their early 40's (such as myself at 40) and someone in their late 50's are potentially going to be in different stages of life (one still has a long way to go before retiring, possibly still raising kids, the other possibly already retired and spoiling grandkids). I'm not saying it couldn't work; however, I'm not interested in someone that much older than me. I emailed the organizer to find out what age ranges the men attending are as it's advertised on sites other than Meetup-the three signed up on Meetup are mid-late 50's.
This got me thinking about what ages I would select if I could customize my ideal speed dating event. My preferred dating range is 35-45 so I'd set it at 33-47. There actually have been two 35-45 events planned in this area recently but they ended up being cancelled due to not enough people registering for them.
So if you were going to attend a speed dating event and could pick an age range, what would you select?
At 41 I would say 35-45, but that would be ball parking it. If I'm attracted to her, we get along and she's not crazy I'm going to look at age as just a guideline.
I honestly didn't know speed dating was real, I thought it was just from the 40 year old virgin. I don't like to date girls younger than 23. Older range, I'd say 29 or so, but I'd consider going out with someone a little older if they were good looking enough and skinny. I'm 26
7 guys didn't even show. So it left me with 5 "dates".
Age range 37-47 for men. I am 37.
It was called PREMIUM SINGLES. NO, they didn't prescreen or match us, you sign up if you think you are premium and meet likewise people the opposite sex.
One guy was 65+ (WTF???), one was mentally challenged (okayyyyy), one was wayyy to short for me (okay, not his fault), one was just WAY too stereotypical Indian looking and sounding (ok, not his fault) and ONE was okay - we already met for dinner the day after.
I've done it once before. I want to say the age range was 23-37, and most were early- to mid-30's. I was 37 so one of the oldest there. I didn't get any matches (I only selected 4 of the 11 I met). Despite that, it was a good experience in that it gave me much needed practice in making small talk with strangers, which is not something I'm good at due to the abovementioned shyness which tends to come across as aloofness.
Since then, I thought if I did it again, I'd like to try one where I'm in the middle of the age range, but I'm finding those are either hard to come by or when I do look to see if one's coming up, it's on a night I already have plans.
