Why do men contact women out of the blue? (dating, sex, call)

I was dating a guy and didn't exactly end it. Just blew him off and stopped returning his phone calls. It's been over a month since we spoke! He calls a few days ago and informs me he's in town and wants to hang out this weekend. Is this a booty call? Am another chick on his list? Is he lonely? He definitely has some nerve!
Don't read into it too deeply. If you're not interested, just decline and move on. Who knows what his intentions may be? If you're not interested, it's all irrelevant anyway, don't you agree?
You blew him off so he's still interested. People want what they cannot have. What has he got to loose by trying you again? Meanwhile, I think people call others (or text others more often is the case) because they are bored , perhaps horny too

It might be out of the blue from you POV but he might have been thinking about every day for the last month. He might have been making threads on CD asking when he should contact you.
IDK about that. The op never stated she's had sex with him or given him an indication she would. Why, OP, though are you so defensive about it? If you're not interested, just blow him off again, or if it bothers you that much, tell him not to contact you anymore. Or if you're so curious, see what he wants by responding to him until he spells it out for you. (Because sometimes a person will not answer honestly a direct question such as "why are you contacting me anyways?")
