I think some people that cheat may only cheat once. If someone cheats as a mistake due to emotional or mental stimulation, they may do it, then feel aweful about it and never do it again. But, I think this type of cheating is the more rare reason.
People that cheat due for sexual reasons will most likely always cheat. The whole new person and exciting fun high is like a drug, and people get addicted to it. It doesn't matter what a s/o does to try to be a good partner, that partner will cheat on anyone, for no reason other than the excitement and thrill of a new partner. These types of people should probably just be single and date, but then after years and years, what would mom and dad think ?
I don't think that rule applies to everyone. It depends on the person and the situation. However, there are some people who just can't seem to be faithful. I dated a guy who admitted to me that he has cheated on every single girlfriend he has had, and guess what? He cheated on me too. Shame on me for sticking around.

I think they mean that if a person cheats once, they will cheat again. I don't personally believe that people are 'cheaters'. I believe that people cheat.
Exactly. We are not clones. The assumption that once a person makes a morally deficient mistake, that he/she is unable to rectify it fault is a convenient excuse to stereotype human behavior. And it's also mentally lazy.
I don't think I've ever met a person who has only cheated once though...I think once you've cheated you'll probably do it again.

I only cheated once. That was...close to 10 years ago. I can't be 100% certain what the future will bring, but I certainly don't want to put myself or someone that I care about through that again.
