Men usually get blamed for being the more superficial ones who are slaves to their hormones and only care about looks but recently it seems men are much more lenient lately and women on the other hand have turned into men where looks are the most important thing
I see tons of couples nowadays where the man is clearly better looking..and online dating forget about it..its basically tons of very plain women going after the hottest guys..
Add in the whole height thing where a lot of women would choose their shoe over a potentially great guy and if a guy still isnt taller then them in her huge heels hes dismissed..
It seems as if shallowness and vanity in women has reach new heights these days no pun intended
OP, it sounds like you're describing online dating. Online dating creates a kind of "catalogue effect", where people can shop for the attributes they want. Both sexes do it in that environment. IRL, the game is much more varied, and nothing much has really changed. There have always been men and women who prioritize looks, and there have always been men and women who prioritize personality.
IMOP women are certainly more likely to get men to follow them and play games to boost their egos. How many men do you know that play hard to get? Thankfully I am happily married but I do feel that mainstream media is programming young girls to be emotionless, snobby, self seeking, and vain. There are down to earth women that are educated, caring and respectful but they are becoming increasingly rare.
