Well I met this girl online that I like. we are dating but I was thinking that the distance may become a problem. I live in Gary Indiana and she lives in Chicago Illinois. Do you all think this may be a problem? Where going on some dates soon and I’m going to take the greyhound to see her. Gary is not that far from Chicago it’s like 30mins away on the greyhound or train. I know people that work in Chicago and take the train every day to work. The greyhound is like 6-$7 and same on the train.

This should be a nonissue...you live in the same metro. How old are you, out of curiosity?

I think it's doable if you really like each other. 30 minutes isn't that much.

LDR's are hard because building a relationship takes your regular presence. It's a good distraction for awhile, but I see few that work until one person is willing to move. It's less about the travel time and more about the responsibilities already in place on both sides.
Maintenance and relationship building need focus and concentration. And personally, I need to be able to call that person on a random Tuesday and know they will be there...

I don't think 30 minutes qualifies as a LDR. At first I was thinking this may be more of a San Francisco/San Diego type of distance. Or a NYC/Boston type of distance.

it's not really that far at all. a lot of people drive farther than that for work 5 days a week.

Honestly, I wouldn't sweat that. That is really nothing. Go for it. Give it a chance.

Doesn't seem that far. When I first met my SO, we both lived in NYC but it took over an hour to get to each other's apartments on the subway.

If you are dating already, then you already know how the "distance" is working out, right? Are there any problems yet?
