This is for the gay guys

Does the word "Cute" to describe someone you find attractive, have more 'value' within a gay context?

What I mean is that when a str8 guy or gal refers to another as "Cute"- to me, it is not the upmost compliment- it is a tier down from "hot" or "gorgeous" in my opinion...is this the same regarding how gays use the word to express how attractive one is?

(As I noticed that from gay friends and within gay circles, "Cute" seems to be more loaded in meaning within the gay context- as in "That (other) guy's cute" (he's do-able)- but this is not necessarily parallel to how "cute" is perceived in "str8" contexts- am I right to believe this?)

I think in the gay world cute is on par with HOT.

We don't throw that word out loosely.

to me cute is just another word for hot but a different type of hot. usualky when someone is 'hot' that means that they are ultra masculine looking or rough and rugged

when someone is cute they are attractive but in a pretty boy or milk and cookies kind of way.. which is what i PREFER. i think a guy being cute also means i can take him home to meat mom and he might be a life partner instead of someone you'd see on a gay porn site.

HOT and CUTE are TWO different types of.. YES!!!!

"Cute", Does anyone (gay or staight ) really use that word?

Somehow, I can't see Andy Cohen calling an interest, cute.

I think your explanation is accurate....cute is Hot with a touch of "nerdy"....and in my experience Gays use it as a compliment.

Opinions, like with everything, probably vary depending on who you ask. But me personally, when I say a guy is cute that doesn't mean I want to jump in the bed with him right then and there. It means I think he's adorable in some way or another: maybe he's really shy, not very masculine, or has a very cute face. Then again, I'm very cautious in general, so that has to play into it too.

I really only save hot for very sexy masculine guys[think Chris Hemsworth kind of sexy]. In other words, I don't throw hot around too often so most guys that I'm attracted to may be put into the cute category. Of course not every guy can look like Hemsworth, but you get the point, that I'm looking for a guy that is well fit and muscular before I ever say Hot.

I've seen mixed opinions by gays on this. I, as well as my gay friends, just view "Cute" as another way to say hot or good looking. "Yeah that guy is really cute!"

Some people though find it more off-putting, kind of a, he's attractive in an adorable puppy dog way, but not really hot.

I'll usually say cute, handsome, or good-looking about someone I'm attracted to. Hot seems more like a body type descriptor to me. If he's good-looking with a lean/muscular body, he'd be "hot". I reserve gorgeous or stunning for the rare super model type.
