The seller of the home I want is also the listing agent. We put in an offer and found out she contacted my mortgage broker to find out my credit score. Is this normal??

She also wants to know how much down payment we're putting down. Why does the down payment matter to a seller or even the lisitng agent?

She's qualifying you. She does not want to tie up her property if it appears you may not be qualified to buy it.

It implies your offer did not include a pre-approval from a credible lending institution who had recently ran a credit report on you and verified your income and assets.

I do not think it kosher for a lender to disclose your score without your authorization. This does not preclude someone from asking and in some cases, some lenders from disclosing.

It is standard procedure in my area for buyers to disclose the down payment and the amount, type and rate of the mortgage they intend to obtain.

Thanks so much!! Since this is my 1st time, I have nothing to compare it to, but the seller/agent has been so nervous with the constant ?s to my realtor & broker.

It was even more uncomfortable when we went back to the house for a 2nd showing and the seller was there watching our every move, asking us if we liked it LOL
