I'm hoping we can have a thread that lists all of the places where you can find new homes built in the older styles. I understand these
are expensive neighborhoods but I also understand there are some
that are affordable. Your responses will be greatly appreciated.

By "older styles", do you mean the "Traditional Home" communities where the houses look like houses of a previous time, but are built with modern techniques?

There's several of those in this area (Central Texas/Austin and surrounding suburbs).

In Stone Mountain, GA, there's a subdivision where the street names all start with "Brier" (off Ponce de Leon)-- the homes were built in the late 70's/early 80's, but all to look victorian, with lots of built-in woodwork, etc. My understanding is the developer built a few of these around Atlanta at the same time. They weren't fooling anyone appearance-wise, but they were very well built and had all the modern conveniences. Imagine a kitchen with a victorian style oak microwave nook.

I see tons of these types of houses in Wilmington, NC and Charleston, SC.. craftsman, victorian, italianate, charleston-style, lowcountry styles built after about 1990. Some are infill in historic neighborhoods, others are suburban tract developments.

I personally don't care for them because you pay a huge premium.. around here they are either in bad neighborhoods, or they are in good neighborhoods and extremely expensive.

If I lived in this area of Idaho, I'd move to this development in Sandpoint in a HEARTBEAT:

Cedar Green Community :: Classic Craftsman, Bungalow and Prairie inspired home designs in Sandpoint, Idaho

Craftsman homes, gorgeous design AND energy efficient. Nice scale, too. Wish they were building stuff like this in our area.

Lightbulb ***

Yes, it is beautiful there. I have a home in Boise, too and the property taxes and utilities are very reasonable.
