•Granite is so yesterday. When it's the expected material for countertops in mid-priced rentals, the wow factor is zero. The newest countertops are made from quartz surfacing, recycled glass, cement or paper-based products. Butcher block also is making a comeback.
•Stainless-steel appliances are passé too, replaced with appliances with built-in panels to mimic the cabinetry. And those maple cabinets you picked out to complement the green-and-black-flecked granite counters? Those are out, too. White kitchens are making a serious comeback.
we have a white formica face on all the doors and corian tops and mahogany vineer plywood for side panels and trim.. i can't wait to terr that sucker out .and do solid mahogany cabenets i am sick of thoes white plywood cabenets!!!! i am going to do the whole thing out of solid westindian mahogany that i am going to mill my self with trees collected from hurricanes
Exactly. My son has it and they are constantly wiping down the refrigerator and stove because they can see fingerprints all the time. At least with white or black you really see nothing.
I want a red kitchen. I wonder if they will ever do red appliances or some other colors like they have the washers and dryers.
This is not my experience with black appliances. I had to buy a black refrigerator to match the black appliances that came with the house, and it showed more fingerprints than the stainless steel one I had up north. I have to wipe it down with water and polish with wax as instructed. The stainless was much easier to clean for me. We don't have a problem with our granite either...sealed it once when we moved in, and re-sealed after six months, although it wasn't necessary. It is as shiny as when we moved in.
I like white appliances, they are classic.Stainless is too cold and
professional to me. Also, Corian suits me fine. AND if you cant cook
a lick, doesnt matter what appliances/gadgets you have in your kitchen.
Oh, and I like all kinds of cabinets.White,maple,etc. its how its pulled
together that makes it look nice, ie decor, counters, etc.
I do....come vacuum mine. I love my dyson...pretty good vacum. Of course when I get those long awaited "wood floors" that everyone wants I wont use it as much

I love Corian also. The house just bought has that. Very cold all the time. Honestly stainless reminds me of a restaurant. I have never really been a fan of it. White would be my favorite also.
Black appliances are much harder to keep clean than stainless, but they're making a comeback. A lot of people don't care for white appliances and they have very little "wow" factor with wood cabinets. I don't see stainless going away for a while.

oh really. I didn't realize that. I didn't think black showed the fingerprints...but good too know. Maybe I will just stick with white. Just not a stainless fan, don't like how it looks
You know the same thing happened to corian in a few years but having had it I see why. But I say whatever you like ;get that.Too many people that thnik they are the fashion judges is the problem. most seem to like granite at this time and quartz is a growing trend.
I have black, gloss Kitchenaid appliances and find them easier to keep clean than the stainless the previous owner had. Stainless shows more smudges and discolors more easily. The black gloss does show more than textured but not as badly as stainless. I have seen a couple of fridges with a stainless appearnace that are really painted a cross between titanium and silver- it looks good & would stay cleaner however I have never seen coordinating dishwashers or stoves.
I think Jenn-aire has some particularly attractive white appliances. Clean lines and a bit of chrome. If you've got the $ some of the high end makers do colored appliances and seem to coat their stainless because it doesn't wear as poorly. (or the people with it afford good cleaning staff to keep it spotless.)
