Can other agents talk to us about how they would sell our house while we are still listed with our existing agent? We haven't cut him loose yet, and I would like to start meeting with other realtors as soon as possible, but I seem to remember there is some kind of rule about how realtors can't solicit other realtors clients. Do we need to fire him first?

I'm in Wisconsin if that makes a difference in the answer.

Right.

Other Realtors cannot solicit you.
OTOH, you can initiate contact and they are then free to speak with you.

You can contact anyone you want, at any time.
Realtors can not initiate the contact while you are listed.

So for you to call them is o.k.
For them to call you is not o.k.

Before signing a listing agreement with another broker be sure that you've read and understand the agreement that you signed with the prior broker. You don't what to be contractually obligated to pay both brokers.

While I've never known of a broker that would insist of fees after being fired, if your not at the end of your listing term, request a signed termination of the listing agreement.

Great advice. Thanks. Now, I'm ready to find my new realtor!
