Yes, that's how it's done in most cases, unless there is a specific requirement by the seller that their agent has to be present for all showings.

Absolutely. I can only think of one or two times where the listing agent was present and that was because the seller did not feel comfortable with a lockbox being placed on the house

Are you in NYC? If so, last I knew a couple of years ago many showings were, as they say, accompanied. That is, with the listing agents there. Could be different this year. Could be mostly for high end.

Sometimes you'll see it on the listing. Sometimes it's on the version of the listing between realtors that gives more private info and includes how the seller wants the home to be shown.

Even in areas where it's now common, it's not unknown. In those areas, just a little unexpected and a little harder to coordinate. Although, even then, then the lister might have a partner show instead.

Are there some real estate agents/realtors that are not allowed to get into an apartment/condo on their own, i.e., with a lockbox?
Could it be saying something about the real estate agent?

No, not really. More often it's about the sellers and their special concerns. In some instances there are animals or other special needs, paranoia for one or renters for another, that would give the seller reasons for no lockbox.

Or the agent has not opted to have a lockbox key (they are reasonably expensive), which would mean to me that the agent doesn't do a lot of business, because it would be inconvenient.

It also depends on the price of the property.

I showed a townhouse the other day that was listed at $2.5 and the owner had several Birkins in her closet. Of course the listing agent was present.

I agree. If its high end or a unique property, I'd expect having the listing agent there would be beneficial to all parties. But some sellers specifically want the listing agent present at all showings.
