I've been looking at the selling prices vs the Redfin estimates. It seems to be more accurate than Zestimate. I've looked up many homes for sale and found that Redfin is very accurate given or take 3k.
It's accurate to my house value. Does Redfin give an accurate estimate of home values?

If they have never been in your house, then they are only a mathematical algorithm figuring averages. They are as accurate as your house is average.

If you live in some kind of cookie cutter development where all the houses are the same except for the paint colors then these pop appraisals are likely to be more accurate. Outside of that, I would trust them. It's too critical to the process to actually step foot in the house and no internet site is capable of doing that.

I checked Redfin and the estimate for my home is $27K higher than the more accurate estimate at Realtor.com

Which is probably all off from the actual market value of your house. Realtor.com is no better than any other website who guesses.

But I have an older smaller home in a lower cost area. the Realtor one is close to what homes are selling for in this area and the Redfin one is off (higher) by 40%.

They all can have pretty significant margins of error. The trick is how do you know how much your house is worth to then say one site is right on and one site is off 10-20%? Everyone has an opinion of the value...the websites, the tax appraiser, the owner, the neighbors, the bank appraiser, potential buyers, buyer's agents, seller's agents, etc. They'll all be different in most cases.
One other idea is the values can change from time to time, based on new information they get. I don't think the true value of a house goes up or down by $10,000 or $20,000 a day or a week in most cases. It happens on the websites.
