Do any of you live in an area with a lot of manufactured homes? I've heard that financing can be nearly impossible for them - are there any nationwide companies that routinely offer financing on these types of homes?
Yes. You can obtain FHA or VA financing as long as the home is not a single wide and is permanenty affixed (concrete runners). There are also age limitations for the home. Where are you?
Basically, a home needs to be a double-wide, on its own land, built after 1976, when the new HUD codes went into effect. You need a lender that will work with you on such properties. Look at a local bank as opposed to a 'big bank'. They generally won't touch them now due to the foreclosure rate. FHA also has a program for MH that are in parks, on leased spaces.
Hope that helps.
