Considering claims by some that the housing market is booming, I am interested in what price range you are looking at. Personally, I think only the lower end is booming and it gets worse as you go up.

What range are you looking for now or will you be in your next home?

I would agree (based on what I see) that the lower end is certainly moving more quickly than the higher end. Of course, people on the higher end are getting "deals", but the deal could be a home that was 1.3 million is now 1 million. Yes, a deal, but still out of reach for the typical buyer!

I would say the homes in the 250 and lower range are moving well.

Well considering the 8000 dollar tax credit for first first time home buyers I believe that you will see an increase in home sales that are in the 80k-250k. People that are first time home buyers are more often than not younger folks who can only afford this price range. The hope is that the purchases that first time home buyers will make will help those who sold their house afford something alittle more expensive. We will see I suppose.

For my next house, I will be looking for one that costs more than $1 million. I will also be looking to befriend a rich elderly person who will leave me the money to buy it.

My wife and I spent an hour walking around McGregor Downs yesterday. It's really interesting to see the wide range of housing prices and styles available in just that neighborhood. We saw 1960's ranches in need of complete overhauls listed at $450K, all the way up to 4-story McMansions (Saturnfan's favorite ) listed for $2M. Such a pretty neighborhood too. . . . but stay away from the streets near highway 1 and 64.
