Hi all,
Was wondering if anyone has ever gone early to Regency Park to set up a blanket and chairs and left them there until you came later on in day? Kind of like..cheating. But if you can't go until later, it is hard to find a good spot. What do you think?

Thanks! Have a happy and safe 4th!

Personally, I think it's "cheating." Get what's available when you can go, or don't go.

I agree. That's not really playing nice.

Definitely grounds for removal.

Reminds me of when Southwest used to have people line up first come, first serve style. People would drop their bags at the front of the line and then go sit down, expecting people willing to wait in line to honor their placeholder.

Yes, it's like being at a resort - some people wake up at 6am to place their beach towels/bags on the prime pools spots, then go back and sleep until noon.

People would definitely just move your stuff. Why not go out there early with a deck of cards, some snacks and drinks, a board game without too many pieces, a book, magazine, and some music? That should keep you busy for hours!

I think they position their tarps at least a day in advance. Some have 14x14 tarped areas just for a few to walk around -crazy! Def. no southern hospitality in those groups.
We go a little early with blanket/chairs and plan to be mobile. We stop at Harris Teeter on the way to fill food bags and coolers -they have a great salad/food bar.

I'm planning to go. What time do you recommend arriving?

We went last year and got there right when they opened. The grassy area outside the fence (around the lake) was already covered with tarps. The area around where we chose quickly filled up with blankets and tarps--some people staking out more area than they really needed. We put out our blanket and chairs and stayed the whole 6 hours until the fireworks were supposed to start. But then it rained. Hard. Very hard. And the fireworks were cancelled. Never again would I go that early.

I did not notice anyone moving other people's stuff. People that arrived closer to the scheduled fireworks start time were squeezing their blankets and chairs in anywhere they could find a small spot--sometimes way too close to the people who were already t here. Some people seemed annoyed, others didn't seem to care.

Wish we'd gotten to see the fireworks!

there are already dozens of big blue tarps scattered around the lake (with no people anywhere in sight) and the fireworks are still 36 hours away. it's pretty pathetic!
