Hi. We are looking for a house in Cary, Apex, etc. area that is in a neighborhood with trees. I see so many houses/neighborhoods on the web where there is not a tree to be found. I guess these are the new neighborhoods. I don't mean heavy woods, but some shade trees would be nice. Price range is approx. 300K-400k, community pool, best schools. When I search for houses the neighborhood Lochmere keeps coming up as appealing. Does anyone have other suggestions? Thanks.
Lockmere is very nice and is one of the best neighborhoods in that part of town. You may find that houses in this neighborhood are in the upper half of your price range. If you are willing to go a little farther south and east, you will find smaller neighborhoods, but they will not have the ammenities as Lochmere, nor the prestige. One of my favorite neighborhoods in that price range is White Hart, which is about 10 minutes southeast of Lochmere. But White Hart isn't even in the same league as Lochmere.
Lochmere is beautiful! Oxxford Hunt (where I live) has lots of trees and a community pool - but it's older and generally under $300K. In Apex, Abbington comes to mind.
Trees can be quite hard to find in newer neighborhoods!
Picardy Pointe has large mature trees, homes built in the early-mid 1990's and a pool. You will top out on your budget, but negotiating....?
I love the location, within walking distance to Apex Community Park, too.
Wimbledon has pool, tennis(of course), tons of trees, and is solidly in your price range.
Weston Pointe is more lightly wooded, but otherwise a great match.
Wellsley too. And Wellsley has so far maintained school assignments in Davis Drive Schools. +++
I lived in Lochmere for over 3 years and it is a beautiful area that definitely satisfies your want for wooded neighborhoods. If you have kids the only thing I would urge you to consider is schools because the ones that most of Lochmere are assigned to (dillard elementary and middle and Athens High) aren't quite as good as the schools you'll find in most other areas of Cary and Apex. Another neighborhood in Apex that I used to live right accross the street from is the smaller development of Woodridge on Olive Chapel. Most of those homes are probably in the mid 200's to low 300's so they'd be well within your pricerange. Probably one of the most "wooded" neighborhoods I've seen in either Cary or Apex; especially for a neighborhood mostly built up in the 2000's
I was also looking for a similar house, I was usually hitting some of the older neighborhoods, the had bigger lots, but usually don't have the pool ect. Lochmere is nice, but I was looking in the 350's and I couldn't find anything in lochmere in that range that had a nice lot. There were a couple neighborhoods of 1010 (east of RT 1) that had nice house/lots in that price range, but no community pool.
Bond park is nicely wooded. So are many of the hoods around it and they are fairly new subdivisions.
