I am closely watching the construction of the commercial section (Lafayette Village) because I am desperate for new places to have lunch! Piper's Tavern- blehhh. Anyway, I was also curious about the little neighborhood directly behind it. Here are some photos I took today.

Cool gas light fixtures on the entrance monuments & pillars.

Well, I was going to buy this one, but I put my wallet away when I saw the builder wasn't keeping it mowed. Guess I'll save my $799,999 for a rainy day.

($799,000

8212 La Matisse Road
Raleigh, NC 27615

Square Feet: 5161
Bedrooms: 4
Bathrooms: 4 full, 1 half
Floorplan Design: 2.5 story
Property Type: Site Built Stick
Architectural Style: Transitional
Year Built: 2008
Subdivision: Lafayette
MLS Area: 007D
MLS Number: 1651880)

The neighborhood is not only extremely close to the commercial section being built, but is also practically right on top of this blocky office building. If and when I ever have $800K to drop on a house, I believe I will buy somewhere that I'm not staring at some dentist's office!

The street names are all very French... I'm poor so my street is in English.

This was my favorite house and I circled the block 3 times trying to get a better photo of it, but the owner was sitting in the driveway. NRG, I don't know how you do it- I felt majorly creepy/ stalker-ish. But it was fun!

This is the view from the model (well, once you drive past the gazebo).

Here is the neighborhood's site in case you have a ton more money than I do and are considering buying one of these. You can check out their covenants and make sure you can park your truck on blocks in the front yard.

The commercial section has a website with lots of photos of their progress:

Thumbs up Good Stuff

Great shots Cry! It is fun isn't it. Be carefull,it is very addictive too. I remember when I first went out on a whim to take pictures of Bedford. I had no clue at the time I would enjoy taking pictures so much and that I would keep doing it in the future. I take most of my pictures from the car. It is tricky isn't it? Thanks for sharing!

I am looking forward to what Lafayette Village looks like when completed.

I personally think it's a horribly planned commercial space. Here's a thread on Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitors sites is not allowed about it:

Ha, oh... well, I was just taking a wild stab! Rectangular buildings always make me think there will be dentists and chiropractors residing therein!
