Hi,

We're considering relocating from San Diego, CA to the triangle area. In San Diego, San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) provides all utilities to the area. I am wondering what company does this for Raleigh and its surrounding areas?

My husband has worked for SDG&E in the past, and I am wondering if he might be able to find a similar job in Raleigh.

Thank you!!

It depends on which city/town you decide to live in. Progress Energy provides electricity to most cities in Wake County other than Apex and Wake Forest which have municipal systems. Duke Power provides electricity to Durham and Orange counties. Public Service North Carolina supplies natural gas. Water for the most part is provided by the city if you live within the city limits (there are a few areas outside the city limits that receive city water) or by Aqua NC if you live outside the city limits (unless you have a well). Not sure what your husband's experience is, but you can go to the websites of Progress Energy, Duke Power, and ElectriCities to see what kind of openings they have.

Progress Energy recently pressed long time employees to retire so they could be replaced with lower paid employees.
