My husband and I are planning on moving to Raleigh/Cary area in February and are looking for a decent apartment to rent. We'd like a 2 bedroom in the $600 to $750 price range and have been checking out Hidden Oaks and Woodbridge in Cary, and Bridgeport and Six Forks in Raleigh. Please help us decide, and if you can recommend a better complex please do so!
Thank you.

Very tough to find a nice 2/2 for under 800 in any of the nicer areas of the triangle. We looked in N. Raleigh, Brier Creek, Cary, SW Durham, Chapel Hill, and the best we could really do for something reasonably new-ish and safe-feeling was north of 800 as a monthly rate, though you can sometimes get promos with a month free etc.

Yeah I think you're dreaming if you want a "nice" 2 BR for $600-700, based on what I've seen, but good luck. There are some nice ones in Brier Creek right off of Rt 70 and I-540 but they were running about $750 for a 1BR, which by the way isn't bad. You might be able to find some older ones which are still respectable somewhere cheaper, but honestly offhand not sure where they might be. If I hear of anything will let you know.

Can you up your price point at all?

Yep, ditto what everyone else said about your price point. The average 2 bedroom in the area is about $800, most are even more than that. If you find a 2 bedroom apartment for $600, I'd say run-you probably won't be very happy there. That's even lower than the average 1 bedroom rent of $675!

Check out Brampton Moors in Cary, very nice place if you can get in one of the buildings away from the main development.

Try some of the complexes surrounding Lake Lynn. This one has 2 bedrooms for $700-$715.

Hey! I lived at Sailboat Bay when I first moved to Raleigh in 05'. My wife and I landed a one bedroom there for just under $500. Rents have gone up since then, but I agree that youshould be able to get a 2-bedroom there for under $800. It is an older complex but everything was in good shape and we really enjoyed our time there. We were right next to the lake which was awesome. The maintenance staff was responsive and we got along fine with our neighbors. They even had a small pool and work out room. I love that section of North Raleigh just off Creedmoor road. Easy access to Harriss Teeter, Crabtree Valley Mall, and I-540.

If you are looking for an inexpensive apartment complex in a nice safe area and don't mind older appliances, Sailboat Bay is a great option IMHO.

Sailboat Bay is a great community. I send my clients there often. They've also just renovated so their apartments look brand new inside, hence the price increase. New fixtures, cabinetry, appliances, paint, etc. Still a great deal though. The problem though is that out of the 193 units they have, only 12 are 2 bedrooms. So they're very hard to come by!
