I am having a 5 yo and 7yo birthday combo party. I have 30 minute show and will end the party w/ cake, ice cream, pizza, etc, But, what do I do before the sitting and eating to get them up to burn energy. Most of the kids will be boys. I have a hall I was thinking of 2 bounce houses but it is a 12" celing so they caould do the maze type but no others. Are there party specialists in the Raleigh area that do dance parties for young children?
Hey - I do dance parties for this age. In fact, I combo'd my own kids party last year (ages 6 & 8) and DJ'd it for them. They had a blast. I can do all kinds of games with them. PM me - I'll talk to you about it and give you a price cheaper than two bounce houses.....
My kids are still small, but my sister took her kids (same ages as yours) to a Bounce Party at a local gym. They basically rented the gym for a portion of time (an hour I think and then 45 minues in a party room), and the kids could bounce all over those trampolines that are built into the floor (less chance of hurting themselves than the ones that are above ground). There are also other things to do in the gym such as an inflatable obstacle course, a foam pit, climbing ropes big turbo slides, mats, etc. and just area to run! Talk about burning energy! Then they had a room where you could take the kids to have the cake and ice cream. I think it was $150 for the use of the gym for 15 guests, helium baloons, for an hour and the room for 45 minutes, then you could do add-on packages if you wanted pizza included, etc. Perhaps there's something similar in the Raleigh area?

Another idea would to just have the party out of the house. When I figured out the costs, cleanup and craziness of planning kids parties I found that it was much easier just to have it somewhere else like iceplex, adventure landing, chuckee cheese, bowling, jumpin beans, the horseback riding one... and so on. Some of them cost $10/person and they supplied the food, cake, goodie bags and fun!
We did a combo party ( I have twins) at Putt Putt Golf in Raleigh, on Tryon Rd. I thought it was a good deal, pizza, drinks, lots of free tokens for video games & they get to do rides, go carts, play golf, jungle gym (weather permitting)and it was under $200. I only had to bring the cakes.
Our then 2nd grade daughter and her friends (boys and girls) enjoyed a series of races in our backyard, especially the "silly" ones, like the spoon race.
bounce houses and dance shows?? Wow - things have changed since my kids were that age. At 5 and 7 I planned fun games like duck-duck-goose, hot potato, walk the plank, treasure hunt etc. Prizes were fun things from the dollar store and then we did a pinata as the finale. Our parties were always a hit! I would have a theme that I would weave into games and prizes (like pirate or spiderman).
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Kids' birthday parties have really gotten out of hand. Some of the ones that go on with our friends and neighbors are ridiculous. Princess dress up parties that cost $500 and involve the birthday girl sitting in a throne and being practically worshiped. Ridiculous!
