There is a sign on the corner of Jones Dairy Rd & 98 for this grocery store. I had never heard of it so I did a little "google". It is owned by Food Lion.
Has anyone been in one and willing to share your thoughts/experience? One comment I read said that it was a glorified 7-11?

I've been to one in Northern VA and to be honest I think they are actually better than food lion. Myabe it's just the design layout, but I thought it was OK. I still think I would shop at Lowe's or Harris Teeter, but wouldn't mind picking up prepackaged stuff from there.

I have been to Bloom in Charlotte. Although typically "nicer" looking than a Food Lion, Bloom has limited selection (just like Food Lion). I have found that their prices were not that great imo, and was not impressed at all.

I agree.
There's nothing really special about it except the fact that you get to scan your groceries as you shop. But once that novelty wears off...

The Blooms in VA and NC have all been rehabs of existing Food Lions and I agree - they are not great. They are building several new ones in the RDU area - all from the ground up - There are several in the Greenville, SC area that I have seen that are the new prototypes they are doing in our area and they are wonderful. Probably not quite as nice as HTeeter, but definately nicer than Lowes Foods.

This one is going to be "new from the ground up". I'll have to wait and see...it will be convenient so for that reason alone it may get my "I'm outta..." business.

Bloom opened in Fort Mill, and it's a disappointment. They're real big on having one checkout line open, hoping you'll perform their scanning/bagging labor for them. Even if you have more than a few items.

And even in the regular checkout line, it's tacitly expected you'll help bag the scanned items, and certainly expected you'll fill your own shopping cart. Prices not great either.

You can put lipstick on a Food Lion, but it's still a Food Lion.

I actually prefer scanning and bagging my own, but how is the selection? The quality of produce?

I am just hoping for a place I can run in and grab basics and a bit more if I am in a hurry.

And yes, I won't shop at Food Lion, but then again, I won't shop at Aldi's either and love Trader Joes so that connection doesn't have to be a deal ender.

Default BLOOM be gone

From all the posts I don't think there are a lot of fans of Bloom, so why are they popping up all over the place. Didn't Bloom people did some research???
I say Bloom be gone and Wegman's please come here.

Just so you know, Food Lion and Harris Teeter both started in late 50's early 60's in NC. Food Lion in Salisbury, HT in Charlotte (or close around).

FL took the low road, cheap "lowest food prices in NC" route, while HT went a little upscale.

Both made money.

Bloom is FL's version at going up scale, but as the earlier poster said, "Lipstick don't change much"
