Well, I'm searching for a used car and I have to say that I am stumped. Where oh where in the Triangle are all the ads posted by real people selling their cars? I have a dread fear of dealers and would rather avoid them at all costs. I've tried the newspaper websites (N & O and Herald-Sun), but there's very little there. I've tried cars.com and the like but those websites are almost entirely inhabited by dealers.

i listed mine in autotrader and on craigslist. Had about equal number of people call from each and the ultimate buyer bought via craigs.

Believe it or not you can even find your next used car via ebay...lots of people have gone that route in addition to CL and Autotrader.

If you look near the cash registers in any convenience store, you'll see car and other merchandise booklets listing things for sale, many with photos. Some of them are free, but others are a couple bucks. It is pretty entertaining to see what folks are selling!
